Sodium bicarbonate, commonly known as baking soda or soda powder, is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula NaHCO3. It is a fine white crystal, readily soluble in water, and its aqueous solution is weakly alkaline. Sodium bicarbonate decomposes when heated. It begins to gradually decompose into sodium carbonate, carbon dioxide and water above 50℃, and is completely decomposed at 270℃.
